Position Description: Provided secretarial support and project coordination for the Director of Advanced Practice and for the operations of the APP Center. Provides coordination, representation, and minute taking at all APP Center programs, functions, and APP Council meetings, as well as the APP Council subcommittees. Coordinates the efforts of the annual APN/PA Pharmacology CE & Law conference; as well as any interim CE opportunities created throughout the year. Works with Student Education to coordinate APN and PA student rotations.
Works closely with medical staff services specialists to facilitates licensure, certification, continuing education peer review, credentialing, privileging, and communication for over 150 Advanced Practice Nurses (including CRNA, CNS, CNP) and Physician Assistants. Maintains ongoing communication with practitioners and division and department offices to update information and problem solve regarding credentialing, staff appointments, and other APN and PA issues. Works closely with the Quality office to ensure all appropriate and peer review documentation is completed appropriately, and evaluated on a yearly basis. Maintains documentation of Nursing and Medical Staff Policies and Procedures and the integrity of essential and confidential information necessary for the work of the APP Center.
Maintains the Hospital Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) & Physician Assistant (PA) Database. Assists the Director of Advanced Practice with other projects as assigned and maintains appropriate records. Provides backup to the Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist. Qualifications Required: High School graduate or equivalent required.
Some post-secondary education. Associate degree and credentialing experience preferred. Minimum of three (3) years experience required. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be proficient in the English language with excellent use of grammar and spelling. Extensive experience with personal computers and multiple software programs required, with proficiency in word processing and internet usage. Must be skilled in written and oral communications, tact and diplomacy and able to compose correspondence. Must be well-organized, detail oriented and able to maintain confidentiality.
Proficient secretarial skills; typing (55wpm), filing, use of calculator, word processing (MicroSoft Office/GroupWise), and use of general office euipment. Familiarity with nursing, medical and legal terminology helpful but not mandatory.
