Title: RN Same Day Surgery
Shift: Part Time, Days
This position will be scheduled in the Same Day Surgery unit at The Christ Hospital Health Network main campus located at 2139 Auburn Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.
Unit Description: Same Day Surgery (SDS) is a busy pre-op and post-op 28 bed unit supporting 32 operating rooms and 17,0000 procedures yearly. SDS Staff work with board certified anesthesiologists and surgeons and ASPAN and/or ANCC certified RN's. SDS provides also provides highly skilled personnel to assist with regional nerve blocks and follow-up pain management. Nurse/patient ratio is 1:3. This is a fast paced environment that requires critical th inking skills and flexibility.
Job Overview: The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. All care is provided based on the concepts inherent in the model of care for TCH which promotes an on-going partnership between patients and families and the team of healthcare providers. The care is culturally based and age specific. The RN adheres to American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and to the scope of practice described in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
The RN demonstrates the knowledge, abilities, and skills to provide age and culturally specific patient care and education. The RN effectively communicates with peers, utilizes appropriate channels of communication and maintains absolute confidential ity. The RN maintains competence and demonstrates evidence of continuing professional
growth. The RN demonstrates the ability to accept and implement change and the ability to work in a culturally diverse setting.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN is required within five years of hire. Current RNs must obtain a BSN or be actively enrolled in a BSN program by 2020.
Experience: 1 year nursing experience strongly preferred. Same Day Surgery experience preferred.
Licensure : The RN holds a current licensure to practice nursing in Ohio. Membership in professional organizations is desirable. BLS certification is required prior to patient contact. Certification in area of clinical specialty is expected within five years of eligibility.
