Salary Range: $35,360 - $44,828
Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to process incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and other correspondence and to deliver mail to County offices.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Processes incoming mail; stamps date and time of receipt into mailroom; sorts mail for distribution; delivers interoffice mail to County departments; and transports mail to satellite facilities.
Processes outgoing mail for delivery to post office; sorts mail by type and/or destination; weighs mail to determine correct postage; seals envelopes; and utilizes postage machine and postage meter.
Calculates postage rates and additional fees for registered mail, insured mail, returned receipt requests, priority mail, express mail, etc.
Processes packages for shipping; inspects packages for appropriate labeling/addressing; weighs and measures boxes; prepares shipping documentation; and delivers packages to shipping companies/representatives.
Performs customer service functions by telephone and in person; provides information and assistance related to mail services, activities, procedures, fees, forms, or other issues; responds to complaints; researches problems; and initiates problem resolution.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; one year of experience in customer service, mail processing and delivery, or related field preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skill, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
