_________________________________________________________________________Stella-Jones seeks an experienced Leave Administrator to join the team in a newly created role. The primary responsibilities of this position include providing oversight and administration of leave requests for compliance with Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans, and in accordance with the company’s leave policies. The Leave Administrator will provide exemplary customer service and assistance to employees, site managers and HR staff.
Principal Responsibilities:
- First point of contact for leave of absence administration.
- Has a deep understanding of FMLA, ADA and other applicable federal, state and local laws including keeping up to date on future changes.
- Communicates with employees regarding their responsibilities and expectations from the beginning of the leave to the end of the leave, including but not limited to documentation and notice requirements.
- Administrates other company time-off programs as assigned in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Creates and maintains accurate and compliant leave of absence tracking and recordkeeping.
- Maintains reasonable communication with employees and internal partners throughout the leave and as needed to facilitate a smooth and timely return to work.
- Responds in a timely manner to information requests from leave TPA, employees and internal partners in a professional manner and escalates correspondence when necessary and appropriate.
- Advises managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, short-term disability and long-term disability benefits.
- Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
- Facilitates other leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under ADA and modified work schedules.
- Maintains an understanding of all company benefits to ensure employees understand the function of their benefits during a leave or disability event.
- Performs other related duties and special projects as required and assigned
- Participates and contributes to company safety program
- Three or more years of recent experience in a Leave Administration role
- Education: Bachelors Degree preferred
- SHRM-CP preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft office products
- Ability to support a variety of personalities and functions in addition to interacting with staff at all levels
- Experience with HRIS systems (Ceridian Dayforce a plus)
- Expert written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and work independently in a deadline-oriented environment
- Superior customer service and high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
