Seeking experienced OB RN with at least 2 years of Labor and Delivery and Post-Partum experience for a 13 week placement (extension probable). Level 1 experience is required. L&D, PP and NBN cross training required.
This is a night shift position with the expectation of every other weekend. We need someone to fill thi s position ASAP.
EPIC experience, current NRP, current BLS required.
1.Performs age related patient assessments and reassessments as per department policy. This includes neonates, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient population. Able to assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Recognizes, interprets, documents and communicates significant information (Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation) necessary for quality patient care and related patient information.
2.Performs hourly rounding on all patients. Offers labor support to women and their families. Facilitates epidural placement when needed. Assists the anesthesiologist/CRNA with placement and monitors patient following epidural placement.
3.Performs IV placement in neonates. Provides phototherapy and assists with circumcisions. Assists and supports new moms with breastfeeding and is current on breastfeeding techniques. Performs Newborn Hearing Scre ens, Newborn Metabolic Testing, Car Seat testing, Accuchecks and heal sticks on newborns.
4.Collaborates with the patient, family and other health team members to provide humane, caring nursing care that promotes healing.
5.Administers medications following the five medication rights. Reduces the potential for medication errors.
6.Identifies individualized, expected outcomes for the patient. Creates plans of care that prescribe interventions to attain expected outcomes and that are appropriate to the age and development level of the patient.
7.Formulates a teaching plan based on the plan of care. Educates the patient and family regarding the plan of care, expected outcomes, and identified learning needs. Assists with discharge phone calls.
8.Maintains knowledge of the laws and rules regulating nursing. Perform nursing practice within the legal scope and to the level of licensure. Keeps current with practice of nursing and professional developmen t. Learns new procedures, use of equipment, safety information, etc. to provide a safe patient care environment.
9.Treats patients and families with dignity and respect. Ensures confidentiality of patient records. Interacts professionally with patients and families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.
Preferred: Experience in a level 1 facility
Number of beds: 8
Other clinicians on staff: all RNs with one secretary/birth certificate tech
Patient population: generally rural; 35 weeks gestation and greater for deliveries and nbn
Scrubs provided
Float requirement: occasionally as needed

Salary: $42.00 to $47.00 /hour
