The Registered Nurse will be clinically competent. By utilizing the nursing process of assessment of the individual patient and procedure, the nurse is responsible fo! r providing pre-operative, post-operative, PACU, or PAT services, as assigned, while maintaining a safe environment. Addresses the psychosocial and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment. Responsible for monitoring patient's physiological status in the immediate pre and post-operative environment, interceding to maintain optimum homeostasis. Communicates with surgeon and anesthetist continuously, and as needed, about patient conditions, receiving direction for patient management. Responsible for attaining pre-operative medical history and education regarding procedure; Responsible for data collected and communicating pertinent information to surgeon and anesthesiologist; Responsible for accurate and timely charting.
Job Scope
Performs duties independently with minimal supervision, operating from specific and definite direction and instructions. Decisions are of routine or critical nature, made within prescribed operating guidelines, po! licies, and procedures and within Nursing Standards of Care. M! aintains knowledge of new policies and procedures. Accountable for nursing practice as defined by the State Board of Nursing in the Nurse Practice Act. Is responsible for delivering patient care within institutional guidelines.
Interpersonal Contacts
Has both internal and external contacts. The most common internal contacts are with co-workers, staff of other departments and physicians. The most frequent external contacts are with patients and their families/caregivers. Both types of interactions involve information exchange, good customer service and problem solving.

Qualifications
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Required: Current Ohio license as a Registered Nurse. BLS required within 30 days of hire or transfer. ACLS and PALS! certification within 1 year of hire or transfer.
Desired:
Education:
Required: Graduate from an accredited school or college of nursing.
Desired: BSN
Experience:
Required: 1 year experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care hospital. Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize computer programs. Good communication and organizational skills.
Desired: 1 year experience as a clinical nurse in PACU.
